FIRST BLOG POST
this is my first blog post everyone!
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! This is a very experimental first blog post- you have to start somewhere!
This whole process of creating a website has been wild. It’s nothing like I thought it would be!
I feel like websites kind of got stuck in the early 2010’s- nothing is designed very intuitively. You want to design your website to be a smooth experience for the user, but it’s like no one thought of creating a smooth experience for website designers.
Or someone has thought of it, but you still have to know exactly what you’re doing to find all the templates and plug-ins and how to edit them.
They key has been to focus on my website for one hour at a time. In theory it would work best if I did this every day, but it’s been more like 1-3 times a week. I know I’ll get there if I keep working slow and steady!
I’m pretty determined to learn how to do it myself, it’s crazy how much money it can cost to have web developers do it for you. And I don’t really trust others companies to do it- I’m sure there are great ones out there but there are a LOT of sketchy ones too. I’ll stick with YouTube tutorials for now. Besides, it’s kind of fun to design it myself, and at the end of this I’ll have learned a new skill.
I’ve already come so far since day 1, which was 2 months ago now. I started my website, looked at the back end, singed up for an account on a random plug in because I thought it told me to- and within 30 minutes I got a notification that the site could have a virus or something. Thus, my laptop was closed and I took a break for about 2 weeks before juimping back in. 🙂
Luckily my site was NOT infected but I am worried I signed up for more than I had too- oh well. You live and you learn. I’m excited for when my website will be finished but in the mean time I will be clinging to my YouTube tutorials, taking lots of breaks and pausing for a beat before I sign up for anything new.
That’s all for now- I hope you al have a happy rest of your day!
